Momentum Health Partners with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to Advance Scoliosis Monitoring and Research

Momentum Health is excited to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to transform scoliosis care through advanced remote monitoring technology. Beginning April 21st, 2025, CHLA will conduct a pilot study of Momentum Spine, Momentum Health’s state-of-the-art solution for remotely tracking scoliosis progression. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of Momentum Spine in detecting scoliosis progression by comparing its AI-driven assessments to traditional radiographs, while also assessing its impact on clinical workflow by tracking accelerated and unnecessary clinic visits prompted by at-home monitoring. CHLA’s Spine Program is the #1 program of its kind on the West Coast and #4 in the United States.

“This project aligns with our clinical and research efforts at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to advance the standards of pediatric spine care through innovative solutions,” said Lindsay Andras, MD, pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Director of the Spine Program at the Jackie and Gene Autry Orthopedic Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and lead collaborator for this project. “The value of this technology is not only in the potential to improve clinic efficiency and decrease the number of radiographs, but also the patient experience as a whole. Clinic visits and the time in between them often become a source of stress and anxiety for scoliosis patients and their families. This technology will empower them to monitor the curve from the comfort of their own home.”

This pilot project marks a major advancement in using technology to address the challenges associated with scoliosis treatment. The research study accompanying this initiative will help establish best practices for remote monitoring, paving the way for broader applications in pediatric care. Patients will benefit from closer monitoring, reduced travels to hospitals and earlier interventions.
